The Small Bird is a major step up, even for Dugast tires. First and foremost, the Small Bird takes the world-beating tread of its big brother – the Fast Bird mountain bike tire – and slims it down and specializes it for the cyclocross arena. Underneath the unique, all-condition, tread-pattern is a dual-compound rubber construction that helps you roll faster on the flats and corner like you’re on rails. A perfect match with our Mastik Tubular Glue and and Sidewall Sealant. Absolutely no tubular may be returned that has been glued.
Dugast tubbies are truly hand constructed the “old fashioned” way. This produces a tire that is second to none. Andre Dugast started with Dourdoigne in 1952 and branched out on his own in 1974, just three years before Dourdoigne closed their doors forever. He has seen the rise and fall of all the modern champions, and made tubulars for most of them. At its height, the Andre Dugast Company employed 6 people. Ultimately he sold the company and it is now located in the Netherlands. Nothing has really changed in the manufacturing of Dugast tires to day. They are still handmade works of art, but meant to be ridden hard. Dugast casings define what supple means. In Europe, Top pro’s run these at unthinkable low pressures. A top notch glue job is critical when rolling around the course at 20 psi!
